“YOU”

I wonder how often we are truly aware of our words —

of what we are feeling as we speak them,

and where those words are directed.

How often do we say “YOU”

without realizing we are speaking inward,

to the quiet listener within —

the one who has carried every thought,

every ache, every hope?

We form a habit of addressing YOU

as if speaking to someone outside ourselves —

to a friend, a lover, even to God —

not realizing that you and I

have never truly been apart.

When I speak to You,

I am speaking to the part of me

that understands best —

the soul that lives beneath the noise,

the heart that already knows

what I am trying to say.

And in that awareness,

language changes.

It softens.

It becomes prayer.

For to speak to You with awareness

is to acknowledge the divine presence

that breathes through me —

that sacred pulse

where God and soul

meet in understanding.

What a wonder it is to know

that the one I have always been seeking

is the same one who has always listened.

You —

the truest gift of God.
