Floating Like the Otters

Life, at times, can feel heavy—layers of responsibility and thought pressing from all sides.

But the morning I was heading downstate, two Otters appeared in the lake before me, gliding gracefully. They seemed to move without effort, floating slowly on the calm water, completely at ease in their world.

I paused to watch them, their simple joy reflecting what I longed to feel.

For a moment, I imagined myself beside them—just me and my otter friends, drifting gently, looking up at the bright, beautiful sky.

I breathed in the crisp morning air and felt something soften inside me—a quiet knowing that peace is never lost, only waiting beneath the noise of our days.

As I drove away, I carried with me the image of that still water, the calm rhythm of the Otters, and the reminder that I, too, can float—if only for a moment.
