When the Soul Surrenders

How much does life give

to the soul that has lived

without all that it has been given?

How much endurance

is carried within the heart,

to the breath of silence —

for only God can make sense of it.

There are prayers that never reach the tongue,

only the tears.

There are moments that never find language,

only a knowing within.

For it is here,

in the breath between heartbeats,

that God listens closest.

And though the world may never understand

what grace costs,

He does.

He always does.

And somewhere beyond this stillness,

in a light that time cannot touch,

love remembers its way home.
