Searching for Paradise
We live ordinary lives.
A lifetime of ordinary moments. Some happy. Some painful. Most passing by before we fully realize they were important.
Yet this life is temporary. We know it, even if we rarely speak of it. We move through our days without truly knowing what comes next, comforting ourselves with the belief that whatever awaits beyond this life must be better than what we have here.
But sometimes I wonder if there is sadness in living that way.
What if we spend so much time looking beyond this life that we miss the paradise hidden within it?
Are we here as explorers of our own souls?
Searching for something unknown that was placed within us before we entered this world?
A longing. A memory. A compass we cannot quite read.
Perhaps we spend our lives trying to understand why we are here, searching through love, loss, joy, sorrow, faith, and wonder, hoping to discover the meaning behind our existence.
And what if our purpose is not simply to reach the next world?
What if our purpose is to help create it?
Perhaps paradise is not a destination waiting somewhere ahead.
Perhaps it is discovered here.
In a moment of love. In forgiveness. In gratitude. In the glimpse that changes everything.
We enter this world as one, and through love we begin the journey of discovering ourselves.
Yet love often feels distorted, misplaced, and difficult to understand. A compass would be handy. Still, many leave this world searching.
Perhaps the search itself is part of the gift.
And perhaps, if we are fortunate, we discover that heaven was never as far away as we imagined.
