The Gift of a Granddaughter

There are certain blessings in life that arrive like answers to whispered prayers. For me, one of those blessings came wrapped in the form of a little girl named Estella.

I’ve always loved being a boy mom—every laugh, every adventure, every proud moment of raising my sons has been a joy. But deep inside, I carried a longing for a daughter. I used to look up at the night sky and make wishes on stars, hoping one day that wish would come true.

When Estella was born, her parents named her after the very thing I wished upon—Estella, which means “A star” in Italian. From the very beginning, she knew she was my “wished upon star.”

Each stage of her life so far has filled a space in me I didn’t even realize could be so beautifully complete. She shines with a maturity beyond her years, a kind of common sense and grace that even some adults struggle to find. Watching her grow, laugh, and simply be herself makes me so happy to be her grandma.

She is not only my granddaughter—she is my star, a living reminder that sometimes the deepest wishes of the heart really do come true.
